Jessica from Waterloo Primary School
The reason why i rated this book a 4 is because it brings you into the book but it needed to describe more about the characters because throughout the book i got confused on what characters personalaities were like. I am going to the book awards and i am going to buy it because it is very spooky which builds the tension and i couldnt put it down. But i do think that Sky Hawk is the best for me you should most definately read that! xxxxxxxxx

Imogen from Wigton Moor Primary School
I didn't really enjoy Gravenhunger. I found that basing a story around a mound is a strange concept. Also I thought the way it changed who bit was happening to was not good because it was changing every paragraph. I don't think the autheor needed to put in what happened to Elvira because I already knew what had happened from what Phoenix and Rose had said. I think that the story would be better if the secret was about somewhere insid e Gravenhunger Manor, not in the grounds.
Imogen gave Gravenhunger 1 out of 5.
Lucas from St Joseph's Primary Pudsey
I enjoyed this book it was a very gripping story almost my favourite unfortunately not my favourite. This was very exciting and intriguing also unpredictable

Charlien Ann from Victoria Primary School
This book wasn't exactly great, the cover did attract me at first but the ending just let it down! Sorry about that Harriet Goodwin. If this book was on a line graph the line would go staight up at first for the first few chapters and then down near the ending straight. This is because the plot was all set up and then the tention just didn't really go with the flow.
The good thing is the characters Pheonix and Rose how they were like unattracted magnets and then suddenly stuck together.
Charlien Ann gave Gravenhunger 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Moon Pie.
Adam from Victoria Primary School
The book cover might be good but inside it takes ages to get into it.

I think Gravenhunger was really good because it had LOADS of suspense in it and made your heart beat really fast. It was very good because it did a map of Gravenhunger Manor so you can imagine what it looks like and where the stuff is. It is a very good Horror story. However, I rated it 4 because I did not like the secret that much, not the one about the Mum, the one about the ?( find it out if you haven't read it!)because it should be a bit more spooky and realistic.

Charlotte from St.Josephs Wetherby
I really enjoyed this book because:when I read the first sentence it grabbed me in very quickly so it made me want to read it more and more, as well it described the scene stright away which I think could influence others to write like this. GravenHunger book could be read by anybody. The characters interest me because the way they've been described, also they don't really care what happens to them as long as they get done what they needed to .Because they seem like real people you can really imagen them do it in real life. The plot makes some sense but not alot since you would finish 1 part of the chapter but then it would change so you loose where you were so thats what lost you the mark.
Charlotte gave Gravenhunger 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Moon Pie.

I liked the book but it was very confusing in some parts. I started to get a bit scary near the middle so it had me on the edge of my seat. Harriet has thought well about the plot and I would defiantly recommend it to a friend. It was just not the kind of story I would choose to read and that's why I gave it a 4 not a 5!!!

luke from gsal
It has a cover that is too scary for the book, the cover was the reason I didn't read it in bed. It was also to time wasting it described things that dont need to be described as much. I only give this book a 6 out of ten and you will just lose the plot at the end. It is not a very good book.
luke gave Gravenhunger 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Gold Seekers.
Gurprit from The Grammer School at Leeds

I think Gravenhunger was FANTASTIC. This great book always kept you guessing which is what a good book should always do. Moreover this story has to genres imerged into one book. A mystery story and a horror story. The story was slow going at first but then i really got into it. I think the name Pheonix was really linked to the story. Therefore i gave this book a remarkable 5 star rating!

The first time i saw the cover of the book i knew that, that would probably be the book that i chose and me and my reading partner acted a part out from scene 1 and it asked alot of questions. I really like the book and i am glad that i chose it. My Favourite character from the book is a differant character because at first her an her cousin dont get along but she is not really bothered. In parts in the book i felt like i was one of the characters. With this story it was more questions at the start than it answered i thought.I thought most of the mysterious scenes were written really good it was a really good written book all together. In GravenHunger i didnt really cry or laugh but sometimes it gives you goosebumps. Everytime i picked up the book i didnt want to put it down.
Mollie gave Gravenhunger 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Sky Hawk.

I enjoy mystery storys so I enjoyed the book. Everybody has a diffrent taste or genre and this story was horror and mystery.I think it could have been a bit longer so he reder could find out more about Gravenhunger Manor and what happened next.Overall it was horrific, scary and dramatic. It didnt give it away too much and overall I enjoyed it !!!!!

Adam from Allerton Church Of England Primary School
I found it a bit slow at the beginning, but once I'd read the first chapter the story got really going. Some parts sre totally scarey and some sad. At the end of each chapter lies a cliff-hanger which spurs you on to read the next chapter. The ending leaves you in suspense, hopefully for another book.
Adam gave Gravenhunger 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Gold Seekers.
Robert from St Joseph's RC Primary,Wetherby
I think this book was too predictable and it gave the reader nothing to think about. However, I loved the plot of the story furthermore it was well planned.Maybe a bit of rejigging would solve my critizism. It was a bit unclear and vague at some points, especially at the end.I would love to have found out whether or not they stayed at Gravenhunger Manor.Apart from that,I think it was exciting and scary(it is great as it is hard to make people feel scared in books). The plot was fantastic and a good read.
Robert gave Gravenhunger 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Sky Hawk.
William from St Joseph's Wetherby
This book was really good because at one point it was a mystery type of story then it was sort of horror type story. The character in the story did not act as real people would and the character had weird names like 'Pheonix'. The plot is really intresting - that's what kept me reading it and I think the ending finished in the right place but I would have liked to find out if they did end up staying at Gravenhunger Manor.I think the author describes the sence very well and you could really imagine you were there. The dialouge tells too much of the story which then gives it away. I perfer it when the reader has to find the plot out for his or her self. This lost the book one mark because I think this is really important when writing a good story.
William gave Gravenhunger 4 out of 5.
