I love this book, sometimes it was a bit boring, but I just found it so funny! All the characters were absoloutley crazy, and Nanny Deluxe made me feel really scared! At first I wanted Gods and Warriors to win, but to be honest this was kind of better! I hpe my school can make a good performance of it, it would be hard to match it to the books standards.

I loved this book. I think that it is very imaginative and creative .I couldn't put it down.The characters were very well made and i loved the idea of a nanny robot and Sir Issac Newton.The ending was very satisfying too. This book is definitely my favorite and i hope Charlotte Haptie wins because she deserves it. There was just enough detail and description. It made me laugh.The brain food was a great idea and the story was perfect for my age. I think that the cover made it look a little bit like it was for younger children but it is probably for 7+ and for boys or girls. It is one of my favorite book ever.This book is not what i would normally read so I am so glad that the Leeds Book Awards has show me this fabulous book. The pictures were great too. This book has defiantly been well thought of and a lot of effort and hard work has gone into it too make it what it is now. I could read this book over and over again. It should be made into a film. GRANNY GRABBERS:I love granny grabbers.She makes me laugh with her grabbers everywhere and loves to dress up. BABBATUNDE:He is Deliahs best friend.He dresses smart with his own briefcase.He is a good friend. DR DOOMY: he is Deliah's pet and lives in the basement. NANNY DELUXE: I don't like her.She is the scary new robot to replace Granny Grabbers. MR AND MRS SMART: They are Delilah's parents. They always argue about who is the smartest and never listen to Delilah. AUNT TILLIE: she is really nice and Delilah loves her. Before Granny Grabbers came along Aunt Tillie was her only friend. PLOT: Mr and Mrs Smart order a childcare robot to look after Delilah and do all the house work because they never have time to look after her. Granny Grabbers is the robot's name. Delilah is scared of the robot at first but they soon become friends. Granny Grabbers shows Delilah how to have fun, not just work all the time. Mr and Mrs Smart enter Delilah into a competion to see if she can win. The prize is a lifetime supply of brain food biscuits. OPINION; I absolutely loved this book. It's the best one that i've ever read. It has got everything you need in a book like; comedy, facts and a haapy ending.My favorite character is the teddy bear (Sir Issac Newton)because he's always being funny. The best part was when they got Granny Grabbers.There were no bits that i didn't like. I will recommed this book to my friends and family.

I thought this book was funny and intresting to read. I enjoyed when Delilah and her friend ran away with Granny Grabbers. It was so good and possibly the best leeds book award book i have read. I loved it so much but it could be slightly boring at times.
I really enjoyed it and would recomened it to any one who enjoys funny books.
My favouite carators are by far Delilahs' mum and dad. They are always so chatty and always fighting so FUNNY!!!
I also like Granny Grabers becouse she talks funny and would love to have a filmb made of it.

This book was ok. It wasn't the best book I have read on the short list however, it was not the worst. I think It relied on pictures most of the time. I think this book would be better off for younger readers e.g aged 7-9. I think Charlotte Haptie is an ok author. Having said that I do think she needs to write some books a little less babyish. I didn't really like the start of the book because it was a bit confusing that is what pushed it into the lower rating.

This book is about a girl called Delilah who has a childcare/house cleaning robot who tries to teach Delilah about fun and imagination.

It gripped me to the bone and was very good I liked it very much however it was a bit short and some times less exciting but I enjoyed it. The description was good and I found it humourus sometimes.

I recomend this to 9 year olds but I don't think it would make a diffrence.

Granny Grabbers is a thoroughly enjoyable book mainly suited for nine to eleven year olds. It is a great fantasy adventure, making you imagine all kinds of pictures in your head. In my opinion, some part of the text didn't make clear sense for the reader and was a bit jumbled up to be able to understand. Also, the vocabulary chosen could have been more exciting and interesting for the book to be able to appeal more to the reader and be a educational book too. But overall, it was a fantastic book full of creativity and thought, a real page turner! I would definitely recommend this book to one of my friends, as it just lets your head and mind go into a different, magical world just in thirty-five chapters!

I enjoyed this book alot because it was very exciting as I liked it when Granny Grabbers and Nanny Dulexe fight about who is the best at looking after Delilha and who should be the one looking after her .
Delilha Smart is an intelligant little girl , like her parents. One day her parents order a robot which is programmed to look after children whilst they are busy . Delilha is very suspicious about Granny Grabbers and does not trust her very much .But after a few weeks of having this funny feeling she suddenly becomes friends with Granny Grabbers , and gives ger a nickmame G.G to seal their friendship. Then Granny makes a huge chocolate cake to celebrate mmmmm !. After trying to think how she could try to be able to make G.G talk , Delilha gathers a buch of old wires together and connects them to Grannys system . DISASTER ! granny might be dead ...
I would recommend this book to people who are age 8- 12 as it is very enjoyable .

Granny Grabbers was a book about someone called Delilah Smart who has been entered in a competition and has been bought a child care robot called Granny Grabbers, which is meant to have no feelings and ideas. As fate would have it Granny Grabbers started to feel emotions and thinks of ideas and Delilah's parent's find out! This makes Mr and Mrs Smart order a new child care robot known as Nanny Deluxe.

My favourite character was Sir Isaac Newton the brain building bear. The story was quite funny when Sir Isaac Newton was fixed and made to come out with humorous remarks.

I didn't like the story line of the book and found it quite pointless.

This book was a decent piece of writing and I would recommend this book for 8-9 year olds. It was not the best book I have read but it was reasonable.

Granny Grabbers Whizz Bang World is a book based in modern times about a girl called Delilah Smart who's parents are obsesed with their daughter becoming the best of the best at everything and buy a childcare robot who must not have feelings and ideas, but Granny Grabbers (the robot) does have feelings and ideas, and gives Delilah the time of her life. Until, DISASTER! Nanny Deluxe arrives to ensure no imagination at all, Granny Grabbers vs Nanny Deluxe, who will win! My favourite character was Sir Isaac Newton because he said funny things. I don't think any character felt real to me. I did not like how the book relied mainly on images (description gives you image in your head, then next page picture destroys it) and I didn't understand why Delilah really liked Granny Grabbers early in the book and after 1 days was horrified that it was locked up. I also didn't like how Granny Grabbers was so stupid when around Nanny Deluxe and didn't follow orders. This book was alright but not very good.

It takes a very good writer to make a robot seem endearing, and an even better one to make it more nurturing than most humans. But that's what Charlotte Haptie manages in this wonderfully, slightly silly, tale of a child care robot called Granny Grabber that has more common sense than several parents, a firm called The Happy Home Robotics and a King.
I would reccomend this book to children looking for a light-hearted and funny adventure.

when i looked at the front cover of this book i though wow i wanna read it. But as i delved deeper into reading this book it got a teensy bit boring but the epic sneak peek is epic. i really enjoyed that extra bit of the story and i like how its added as an Extra part. its very imaginative and itrigues you into the last bit. the middle bit is quite undetailed but apart from that great great book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

this book was a lot different to Hitlers Angel the first book i read i loved the bond between the robot and the girl my favourite bit between them had to be when the girl tried to make her talk and it was really special when the granny grabbers did i don't think the girl thought it through when he stepped into the helicopter with her final competitor because she would of won by default and her parents would of been proud of her. So it was the best of both worlds. Overall i thought it was an excellent book thank you for writing this book Charlotte Haptie

Granny Grabber's Whizz-Bang World is really funny. Granny Grabbers is a very good character but the other robot, the nanny deluxe, is evil. I wouldn't like the nanny deluxe to look after me because (although she makes pancakes) she's horrid; she would freeze my hamster and get rid of my kittens.
I finished the book really quickly because I just wanted to keep on reading! A super book, well done, Charlotte Haptie! I could not find any faults with this novel, so...FIVE STARS! :-)

I really liked this book because it was amusing and interesting. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. One of my favourite parts of the book was the name of chapter 9 'The Back End Of A Horse', that made me laugh. Another one of my favourite parts of the book was when Nanny Deluxe locked all of the garden gnomes in the shed, phoned the police and told them she had caught some burgulars with fishing guns(Fishing rods as we would call them.) This book is a good, funny book, but also a book i would say is the kind of book i would read at home alone (all the time if it was my own book).
I must admit Grabbers was my favourite character out of the book because she was always doing something wrong or braking something.My favourite part of this book was when Mr and Mrs Smart kept argueing about things in the early life, about who was smater than who, who had been in more cometitions and won more competitions and won medals or trophies.
This book made me grip myself and keep turning over the pages untill i had to put it down unfortunately.
I would probably recommend this book to children about 10-15 years old because like me they will find it interesting and maybe a little bit funny.

This book was really fun and enjoyable to read. My favourite part of the book was when Nanny deluxe started getting confused because of the glowing cat. I really enjoyed granny grabbers whizz bang world because it was different and I have never read a book like it. Towards the end it got more interesting. My favourite bit was all the bits with the nanny deluxe in (she's my favourite character although she was out to get granny grabbers). I wish I could read it again and I will definitely recommended it to my friends.

The book I recently read is called Granny Grabbers. I didn't really enjoy it. I thought it was for younger children because bits of it that were meant to be funny didn't really amuse me,but younger children I think will enjoy it more.

This book is great but had a little too much speech and uses excellent vocabulary but it had really simple speech. I loved this book and I hope to get the next one for my birthday.My brother who is age six read it and and thought it was amazing!

I hugely disliked the book because i thought it was aimed at a younger childs age.
I thought this because i did not really find it funny though when i told my younger sister about this story she wanted me to read it to her.

This book is absolutly ace!I like the way the auther,Charlotte Haptie,made mr and mrs Smart argue over things in there life.I am surprised that they haven't noticed about Granny Grabbers thoughts and feelings.I think Dr Doomy,Granny Grabbers pet Gerbal,has an important role in Granny Grabbers life of whizz bang.In part two I think I would be scared of the Nanny Deluxe she was described very nastily.If I was Deliah I would of hid somewhere where she carn't see me.

I really enjoyed Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World, because the book was hilarious and a page turner. I especially liked the bit where Granny G arrives in a massive box. GG sounds like a fun childcare robot to live with. When Sir Isaac Newton, the brain building bear, is broken,GG fixes it,when Delilah wants something other than brain food, GG bakes a chocolate cake and when Delilah and Babbatunde need to escape from the competition, GG builds an aeroplane called Orville.
The only downside to the book is that sometimes the chapter's ending is predictable. I still read the book and couldn't put it down until I had finished.
I would highly recommend this book to all my friends, because it is funny and makes you think about what is going on in GG's head. This question was circling in my head when I read about her weird and wonderful world.

In conclusion, Granny Grabbers deserves to be shortlisted. Altogether, Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World is an excellent book, but I think younger children may enjoy this story more.

Granny Babbers is a very good book eventhough my teacher disliked it i thought it was very good . Granny Babbers seems like a very happy chatracter she is the mosat interesting along with all the other charachters the BEST

I liked this book! I would of liked it to of been more funny and to of not of been so expsecting.But I did like the grabber speech , and Granny Grabbers teaching Deliah fun because I think that is realy importent for being a child. Granny Grabbers Wizz Bang World is odd.... BUT it is a great story to read!It got my spirits up when i was down and i just loved to read it! Charlotte Haptie sounds like a wonderful girl! Her brilliant mum and dad have just got her... GRANNY GRABBERS! Charlotte loves her but granny grabbers is REALLY clumsy but a great nanny to Charlotte.
The imagination in this book is wonderful and i was really suprised when i read it because it was better than i thourght!
It has up to 200 pages, just around the best amount of pages i like to read. I liked this book but so far i can just say it wasnt the BEST out of all the books i have read in the leeds book awards. But i did enjoy it.

My favoutrite part was when the smart family and Delilah went to the smart competition because Delilah kept worrying and making fun of the really horrible brain food biscuits . Granny Grabbers Whizz Bang World was amazing! I felt so sorry for Delilah. I loved Granny Grabbers She was so funny clumsy and she loved dressing up! I love Delilah's pet Gerbil he was so cute. I thought Delilah's parents are very mean!I really liked reading it, you always want to know what is Granny Grabbers going to mess up again by accident! I really liked all the characters my favourite character was auntie tillie because she was very understanding. I have really enjoyed Charlotte Hapties book.

I loved this book. Charlotte Haptie is a new author to me and I liked her imagination and humour. I would love to read other granny grabbers books. I found the stories very interesting because I didn't think anyone would have brain food and child care robots. It was extremely funny in places and weird in others. Over all Iloved this book a lot and wish to read it again.
