Hollie from Strawberry Fields Primary School

I thought this book was hailairiouis with great illustration I loved the twist in the story which made the book very exciting and adventurous I did not rate it five stars because there was not enough discriptive laungage other than that it was fantastic

Hollie gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Caitlin from Hollybush Primary School

I think that Fright Forest is a really good book. I like all of the humour that the author has included in his amazing book. I didn't rate it a 5 because their is always something wrong with any book. In this case, he could've added some more happiness into the language used. Overall it's a great book.

Caitlin gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5.

noel from Hollybush Primary School

Fright Forest was a good, unpredictable book and it makes me want to go buy the one that carries on in the Monster Mountain [the next Elf-girl and raven-boy

noel gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5.

Haleemah from Hollybush Primary School

Fright Forest was my 2nd best book because it was quite exciting. However I really want to find out their real names, but I'm going to have to read the other books to find out. I would rate this book 5 stars because of the excitment and if the author (Marcus Sedgwick) told us their real names no-one would want to read the other books. I would recommend it to anyone!!!

Haleemah gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5.

chloe from Hollybush Primary School

I lovbed fright forest because it was funny but what i didnt like was they always addressed the two peple as elf girl and raven boy.

chloe gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5.

Lyla from Hollybush Primary School

I really enjoyed Fright Forest because it was exciting from the start and there was lots of monsters such as witches, trolls and ogres.I also liked it because there was lots of funny pictures.I would like to read the other Elf girl and Raven boy books. To improve it I think they could tell their real names. But overall it was a very interesting and good book.

Lyla gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5.

lucy from Kippax Ash Tree primary school

IT WAS MIND BOGGLING!! It was absalotly brilliant.I'd love to read the other books that follow Fright Froest.Marcus Sedgwick is a spectacular author. :) ;]

Jamie gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5.

Alex from Lawns Park Primary

Fright Forest is a book involving trolls, ogres and a witch. It is a fantasy about a young boy and girl who meet up after the boy accidently crushes the girls hut.

I liked the fact that you never found out the children's names so they gave each other strange names. I also enjoyed the main storyline.

The ending was a bit strange and I didn't like how it finished on a cliff hanger. This book also relied on pictures too much.

To summarise this book was quite interesting and exciting.

Alex gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Sarah from Southroyd Primary School

I really enjoyed the book because it keeps the action moving but it's a bit boring I advise no more pictures and more description. However it has some strange names making it easier to remember, so overall it's a really good book.

Sarah gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

olivia from Strawberry Fields Primary school

This book was so tenshon seeking funny. It was so good how it started off with the oger beening very scary and then turning out that he was scared of someone! Raven boy was a bit scared of elf girl which maked a change

olivia gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Ella from Strawberry Fields Primary school

I thought the book was very good. It really was one of those books were you don't want to put it down! It is my favourite book so far.

Ella gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

niamh from st pauls

I liked this book a bit because it had a very good story line and it was an amazing book. However, I didn't like this book as much as the others, as it had too many pictures at my point of view. It was just a bit annoying having to look at pictures when I just wanted to read. He could have been more descriptive to paint a picture in your head, without having to use pictures, but I guess that's just my opinion!!!

niamh gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Nuha from Harehills Primary School

Fright Forest was not one of the best books i've read it has a lot of mind blowing scenes but it does lack a little bit of interest inthere

Nuha gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

Emily from Southroyd Primary

Although the genre was fantasy, Fright Forest was very emotional as it thoroughly described each character's problems. Despite it being a really good book, I only rated it 4 due to it's shortness because, personally, I would have liked more content to it as it ended on a cliff hanger. I loved the way Marcus added humour to his story as well as making it mystical- this intregued me. I would like to read more of his books!!!

Emily gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Isobel from Kippax Greenfield primary school

Fright Forest was a great book and I loved the part when they where hunting for the witch. I also liked it when elf girl used the magic bow. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure story's.

Isobel gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

Charlotte from Southrod primary scool

I like all of the over books better.

Brooke from Pudsey Primrose Hill

Reading this book will take you on a journey through the woods with Elf girl and Raven boy! Strange names right? Want to no more? then read this amazing book by the brilliant author Marcus Sedgwick.Your sure to enjoy it if your the adventury type!!!!

Brooke gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

florence from pudsey primrose hill

Thank you Marcus Sedowick! I have finished fright forest as my last revew came across a bit dissapointing the rest of the book made the confusing chapters make sence I loved it!!!!! :]

florence gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Gods and Warriors.

Tanisha from Alwoodley Primary School

Fright Forest is a phenomenal read. It is about a boy who has amazing night vision, is great at climbing and can talk to animals. I liked this book because the relationship between Elf girl and Raven boy is hilarious; whenever the other one does anything impressive or gets something right, the other one gets jealous and pretends it was nothing. The illustrations were great but the book was even more fun! I would recommend it more for younger readers though.

Tanisha gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Ellie from Kippax Ash Tree Primary School

This was a truly amazing book from the first chapter I was drawn in. Althogh it wasnt my favourite it was ace YOU NEED TO READ THIS!!!!!

Ellie gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

alex from kippax ashtree

I thought the storyline was unique but I thought it lacked description and there was to much speech but other than that the twist and the storyline was quite good

alex gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

amelia from southroyd primary school

fright forest is an ok book but there is really much excitement in it AT ALL!!!! the unusual names elf girl and raven boy are not real names but the characters refuse to tell their real names to each other. The two of them set out on an adventure to stop the ogres from destroying the forest - the only problem is they have to also save elf girls family from being eaten. they must now venture into the dark part of the forest to find the wich who knows all. but will they be able to save the day and hundreds of people from being eaten or will they find themselves on the ogre lunch menu aswell........

amelia gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Alfie from Victoria Primary School

I really loved this book the only problem was it was too short! I would like to read more though

Alfie gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

Neave from St Francis Catholic Primary School Morley

I thought this book was fantastic !!! It was a real page turner !!! I felt a bit sorry for elf girl and raven boy when they nearly got eaten up by three trolls never mind when they had to handle a gigantic ogre !!! I thought this book took me on a rollercoaster of feelings throughout the book . Also it took me on an exilerating adventure . I recommend this book to girls and boys . I definitely would like to read another one of Marcus Sedgwicks books . This book got me thinking because it said the adventure continues . I thought this book was extremely unique . I found it hard to put the book down since it was that brilliant !!!!

Neave gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

holly from kippax greefield school

I thought this book was absolutely amazing! I really enjoyed this book it was very humorous and adveturous. My favourite part in the story was when they tried to pursuade the ogre to stop knocking down the trees. I would recommend this book to people who like adventures and who like mystical creatures.

holly gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

Ben from Kippax Greenfield Primary School

This book was brilliant, i really enjoyed it. My favourite part was when they where tied up because the trolls where going to eat them. However the rat ripped the roped and they escaped, then began to run away.
I would reccomend this book to people who like an adventure!:)

Ben gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Dannielle from Kippax Greenfields

This book was brilliant and full of adventure. My favourite part was when they got caught and the trolls were goint to eat then! Also the illastrations was amazing, alought I really enjoyed this book granny grabber is my favourite.:)

Dannielle gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Lauren from Kippax Greenfield Primary school

This book was my favourite out of them all on the shortlist! It was so adventurous but sad at the same time especially when a tragic event happens to Elf Girl. My favourite part in the book was a event near the end of the book including a very large ogre!It feels as if the characters are alive as of the outstanding amount of description of them. I would recommend this book to children (and adults!) who enjoy humorous and also adventurous books.

Lauren gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5.

Sukhmani from st.Frances of Asissi Primary School

This book was a fun book to read but i dont realy read these sort of books and i would of cors rate this book a 4 out of 5 because it is just not my tipe. But i would like you to do another book and i would like it to be about a sweet story like about a season.

Sukhmani gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Matthew from Lawns Park Primary

Fright Forest is a fantasy set in a mythical world where ogres and trolls and witches exist. I enjoyed this book a lot I liked the characters (plus I'm a fan of rats) but my favourite character was Raven Boy because I liked his personality and I liked how he could communincate with animals. I did not like the storyline though, twas' weak. I wish the ending hadn't been a cliffhanger because I found it annoying. Also I didn't like Elf Girl. I thought the ending kind of spoilt the book a bit. I liked Fright Forest a lot, twas' very good, but it had a tiny amount of flaws.

Matthew gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

saskia from st.nicholas catholic primary school

This book is fabulas and brilliant the adventure within the story is amazing it could of probably been improved by using more words than said although the rest of the story has everything a book could need, thank you for letting me read this book and i would realy recomend this book to a friend.

saskia gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Maria from ST. Josephs Wetherby

Fright Forest! An amazing title. This book is definaltely a page turner and I would recomend it to anyone even if you are not keen on reading books because this book keeps you gripped and you will never want to put it down. I gave it 4 out of 5 because I don't think it needed the extra information at the begining of each chapter and I think it needs a little bit of improving but overall a brilliant book. I loved each character's pesonality and I had a question stuck in my head:what are elf girl and raven boy's names? I was a bit dissapointed with the ending but it was ok. Hope others will read this book and enjoy it!

Maria gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Mariam from Wigton Moor Primary School

I enjoyed fright forest and the illustrations. I gave it 4 star because it needed a little more improvement, otherwise it was a great book and I hope it does well in the book awards!
PS: I'm looking forward to the rest of the series!!!

Mariam gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

Elliot from St. Nicholas RC Primary school

I really enjoyed the book and i am hoping to read the following books from their story.

Ryan from Greenhill Primary

I absoulutly loved this book. The pictures were great some bits were funny. This book hooked me in because the sentences were fantastic.I can't believe I had to read this book last. It was good to finish off all the books. Well done to Marcus Sedgwick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ryan gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5.

Madeleine from Morley St Francis Cathlic Primary School

I thought this book was brilliant since boys and girls can read it and it includes an exhilerating adventure. Also, it makes me want to read more because, at the end, it says 'the adventure continues.' It tells the story of two brave souls who think of others before themselves and are on a mission to run away from three trolls and to kill an even larger ogre! I would like to have an adventure myself because Elf girl and Raven boy have inspired me to get up and get out. Throughout this book, I have had mixed emotions and would like to read another Marcus Sedgwick.

Madeleine gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

lAUREN from Southroyd

It did not make me learn anything about the two characters as they were nearly always annonomous.I know this is a fantasy book and it is full of fairytale figures but it could of at least been a bit more interesting. It didn't even have a good resolution to the problem that was being caused!!!As well as thuis the book did not make any sense to me AT ALL.

lAUREN gave Fright Forest 1 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Adam from Allerton Church of England primary school

I really loved this book because it was easy yo read and made me laugh out loud at some points and it was almost as if I was in the book with the characters. It was EPIC!!!!

Felicity from Hunslet st Marys

I have found that Fright Forest is a very diffrent to many other books i have read . It has the right amount of description that it pulls you in but does not make you confused though . I really enjoyed the book and would defiantly read another book by Marcus Sewig . Aswell i apsuloutly love her illostartions in the book also
.

Felicity gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Millie from Hunslet st MARYS

I thought that Fright Forest was a quick and easy read. I thought that the book took a while to get to the action. I also thought that the action was not very ecxiting and wasn't for 11 year olds. I think it should be aimed at 8 to 9 year olds. Overall I thought Fright Forest was O.K but I will not read another book Marcus Sedgwick.

Millie gave Fright Forest 2 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Lizzie from ST Margarets school

I absolutly loved this book!!
It was a completly amazing book!! I enjoyed the part when ravon boy got caught by all the trolls though you will have to read to find out weither he got cooked or not. My favourite character was elf girl as she was exciting!!

oakley from hunslet st marys cofe primary school

It was okay but it lacks a bit of descripiton of things.I like adventure and fun which this has.But I dont like it when there is a seris of books to read which costs lots of money and its not one whole book.I think its based on younger children than me.

oakley gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5.

Lauren from Hunslet st Marys

Although this book was a little fun it was lacking a storyline. All the book seemed to do was waffle on,and it kept on repeating the same problem over and over.I did like the idea of a mystariouse forest filled with piculiar creatures such as:Trolls,Elves, and lots of wierd and wonderful animals as it took me into my own little fantasy world;and I liked that feeling.I do think younger readers would enjoy this book and so I would recamend it to one of my younger couisns but I found that it was just not for me.

Lauren gave Fright Forest 1 out of 5.

Laura from Hunslet st Marys

I thought Fright Forest was good. It didn't have a lot of description but he pictures helped a lot. There were some perculiar creatures like trolls, ogres and little kittens? That were quite fierce. If Marcus Sedwick produced anymore books ( it tells you in the back)I would read them for sure.

Laura gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Gods and Warriors.

Ellie from Southroyd primary

I think that the book was interesting and very imaginative in some chapters, also the book was very impressive. I enjoyed the part were Raven boy got caught by some trolls and the almost cooked him but elf girl stopped them with her magic bow. I would DEFINENTLY read it again.

Callum from Lawns Park Primary School

This book is about two mysterious children that are trying to find out what is destroying the forest! It was quite humourous and very weird but I like diffrence. My favourite character was the dreaded witch she is quite funny and always doubts herself. It made me turn the pages all the time. The only problem was this book was too short for my liking.

Callum gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Nikita from Lawns Park Primary

I enjoyed this because it was magical and funny. The two main characters are quite funny and they are called Elf Girl and Raven Boy. The illustrations were great. Loved it and if there weren't any illustrations on the page the text would help you build a picture in your mind. Read it you will love it. I did not like a part of it because it's creepy. All in all it was brilliant it was the best of the best of the best. Well done the author Marcus Sedgwick please publish more!!!!!!!!

Sannah from Beeston Primary School

Well this book is quite interesting, but some parts let me down. I sort of like the idea of the paragraph that gives you a little clue about that particular chapter.
Its slightly funny but not really my cup of tea.
i'd reccomend this book for children 7-9

Sannah gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Gods and Warriors.

This book is quite good ,I quite like the fact that at the beggining of each new chapter it gives you a bit of a clue about what lies ahead ,the story line is quite a funny one but slightly surreal .people who like quest storys ,if I was one of those people I would of rated fright forest five out of five but i'm not one of those people .

Woody from Strawberry Fields Primary School

The title made me wary to read this book but it is not that frightening. I really enjoyed reading it because it was about two children who went on a quest to save the girls parents and family. I found this book really exciting, it was hard to put down - there were lots of "cliffhangers" throughout the story which made me want to read more. My favourite character was a little rat who helped Ravenboy and Elfgirl on their quest; he was clever and very likeable. It was good having Rat along because Ravenboy is able to talk to animals and this captured my imagination. Whilst Ravenboy and Elfgirl were on their quest three trolls kept trying to capture them and this made the whole story adventurous.

Woody gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

I loved this book so much because of all its amazing images which made me get more of an emapthetic picture in my mind .My favourite character is elf girl because shes very strong minded and doesnt give away personal information .Also the adventures that start to take its way through the book setting diffrent subjects. lauren from greenhill primary school

I have just finished reading Fright Forest and i really enjoyed it. I like the use of subordinate clauses the author has put in the book and the expanded noun phrases. My favourite character is Raven Boy because he is different then the other characters because he talks to animals. I thought the witch who knows everything would be scary and warty but she wasnt she was kind and pretty. I rated this book 4/5 because it was really good and intresting.

lauren gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Harry from Lawns Park Primary School

This book is about two characters called Elf Girl and Raven Boy, who live in Fright Forest. Raven boy lives in the top of a tree and Elf Girl lives in a hut below Raven Boy. The book was boring all the way through and there was no skulduggery in it. It is the worst book I have ever read.

I like reading this book
At first when I saw the front cover I thought it wouldn't be a good book but as soon as I read the first few paragraphs I knew I was wrong. My favourite character was the giant and the way he talked at the end was funny. I would like to read the rest of the books.

Rojin gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Matthew from Pool CE Primary School (Pool Page-Turners!)

Fright Forest is a great story from a set of books. The description is great and a little funny; the plot of this book is quite good because it doesn't finish straight away and Elf-Girl and Raven-Boy have to find the Ogre, but then find out what he did he was told to do, so they have to find the evil Goblin King. I would recommend this book to 9 and over.

Matthew gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Sam from Pool CE Primary School (Pool Page-Turners!)

This book is great because it's so descriptive and funny, but it's also a little serious. My favourite character is Rat because he's so cute and cuddly. It's just an excellent book!

Romany from Southroyd Primary School

Fright Forest by Marcus Sedgwick

The reason I only rated this book 2/5 is because:
The lack of description (which in my opinion,is needed humungously);
The story could have been given more adventure,as the storyline was brilliant,but the way it was written was not up to a Leeds Book Awards standard;
And finally there were too many illustrations.

Unfortunatly i failed to work out how this book was catagorised in to the 9-11 year old section as i feel this would appeal more to younger children.I know this because i read a few chapters to my 4 year old brother and he enjoyed very much.He stated that "The book was very good as i liked what Elf Girl and Raven Boy do and i really liked the scary ogre, but i wanted to see a picture of the goblin king."

Another thing that was brought to my attention was, there was an infinite amount of speech. On the odd occasion there might of been a sentence saying:Raven Boy/Elf Girl was tired. So as you can see, this let the story down.

So overall I don't think i would read any of Marcus Sedgewick's books again.

Romany gave Fright Forest 2 out of 5.

I enjoyed this book alot. I liked the part where the Ogers came in because it was funny! My favourite character was Elf Girl, because the author described her in great detail. I also thought that this book was a page turner. After every chapter I wanted to read on and it didn't take me long to read it all. I would definitely recommend that you read this book and others written by the same author.

Adrian from Alwoodley Primary School

This book was okay but not as it could have been. It didn't provide as much information as it could have done on the environment and characters.

Adrian gave Fright Forest 2 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Aimee from Thorner C of E Primary

I really enjoyed the book but the only thing I didn't like about it was that there was a lot of conversation where they just said the same sort of thing. I really liked the ending and how there was a long journey with monsters and different problems along the way.

Aimee gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Bella from Featherbank Primary School

Fright Forest was good but somehow wasn't really my favourite type of story. What I did like were the characters, their characteristics and their braveness.

Bella gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Poppy's Hero.

Lauren from Strawberry Fields Primary School

Fright Forest was an amazing book. I really enjoyed the amount of description about the forest. It is a funny, witty tale that kept me up for hours! The part i liked the most was when the witch said that she was a good witch, and that she would be nice to people. It was a great adventure but the only thing is I think Marcus Sedwick should have revealed their names at the end.

Lauren gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Kira from Pool CE Primary School (Pool Page-Turners!)

Creepy, exciting and mysterious; it was a really good book. All that's bad about it is it uses the same line again - "What was that?". But it was great - every time they got knocked out they ended up in a different place. I couldn't stop flipping through the pages later on. I would recommend it to 7-12 year olds. I loved that book and give it 5 out of 5!

Leah from Southroyd Primary and nursery school

This book Fright Forest to me isn't very good due to the fact that the description is very low and that it doesn't build suspense.I believe that for pleasure this book would be absolutley wonderful to read however for the book awards this book is clearly not a winner. The thing I liked was it was a mixture of genres fantasy and horror.I would reccomend this book to people who like easy reads and adventure or fantasy tales.

Leah gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Melissa from Lawns Park Primary School

Fright Forest
Fright Forest is a fantastic story about a boy and a girl that meet together one night. Elf girl's parents mysteriously disappeared, they both try to look for them with interesting events following. My favourite character is Raven Boy because he can talk to all the forest animals. The characters are so realistic because the author is so specific and detailed that I feel they are jumping out of the page and at me. My favourite part is when they get bribed to go to a house to get some food but they are actually going to three trolls' houses instead of men. I liked it because they had to work as a team to get out of the situations and they are always in danger. It made me laugh because it had mysteries and puzzles that kept the reader intrigued!

Overall I rate this book 5/5!

Melissa gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Gods and Warriors.

Nadia from Thorner Primary

I rated this book 3 out of 5 because it took a while to get to the plot and all the interesting parts plus I think Marcus should have revealed what the characters names were. I liked the description for the forest and witch. I have read a few of his books but I thought they were all better then this one.

Nadia gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

Isobelle from Beeston Primary

I really liked Fright forest, it was fun to read and simple to read. My favourite part of the book was when the oarge turned to be a nice orge and was sent to distroy the forest. When i read round about 1 or 2 paragraphs i wanted to read more and more and didnt want to put it down. This book is te favourite so far, i cant wait to find more books like this.I love the way they always spoke to each other with an attitude.
i would love to read more.

Isobelle gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Gods and Warriors.

Jade from Beeston Primary

I loved reding this book but i found that it was a bit simple and easy to read.
Other than that I enjoyed this book. It had an exciting story line and sometimes i was so eager to read on that i read it all in one day. My favourite part of the book was when elf girl used her powers to turn everything into ice and then she had to drag raven boy along with a rope. My least favourite part was when the ogres wanted to cook them because I got quite worried because they could of died.

Jade gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Gods and Warriors.

brooke from pudsey primrose hill primary school

i would recomend this book to people between the ages of 6 to 12 mostly in a primary school.Using pictures it makes it alot easier and more fun to read this book so people can enjoy the book more than any usual just typed book;the way the text is set out makes it alot more fun to read too. This book will take you on a journey with raven boy and elf girl to go threw many different obstacles and challenges meeting trolls , giants, and many strange animals and creatures. This book probably wouldnt be a great reader to people within the age 13 and up just because of the way the book is set.

brooke gave Fright Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Ellie from Pudsey Primrose Hill Primary School

I would reccomend this book to any age really. It is a funny and adventourus book that I loved reading. Elf Girl and Raven boy are the main characters and I personly think Elf girl is the best. Jaime from Southroyd Primary and Nursery School

I LOVED this book because from the first sentence, you are pulled in. The two two names 'Raven Boy' and 'Elf Girl' are not the names of two tall, slender kids - a girl and a boy.

Unwilling to tell the given name to one and other, they set off for the Witch Who Knows Everything's hut, questions pondering on their minds, and start to play the Name Game. On this went joyfully until 3 horrors walked out of the pub - a small man, a middle-sized man, and a large man . . .

I loved this book and every time I put it down, I had to pick it up again because it was that good !

Jaime gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

leah from kippax ash tree

I thought that fright forest was a funny enjoyable book to read . It was the type of book that draws you in and keeps you entertained while your reading it. My favourite charecter is Elf Girl because she is couragous but sometimes nervous when set challenges. I think that the begining of the story was really good it explained who the charecters were and started to get exciting. I thought in the middle of the story it dragged on a bit but as it got closer to the end it picked up in excitement i really enjoyed the end part. I thought that on the whole the book was a very good book and i enjoyed reading it

Francesca from Pool CE Primary School (Pool Page-Turners!)

It's very surprising. It describes where they are, what they're doing and who they are just by the author's description. When you start reading you just can't stop. It's really exciting and loads of bad things are happening and you just can't wait to figure out if they become better...or even worse! It's a real page-turner and it's really nice that at every chapter there's a little fact that you can read about the characters.

Francesca gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Granny Grabbers' Whizz Bang World.

Sarah from Broadgate primary school

I like this book because is is a adventure type of book and it has parts where it is a mystery and all sorts of weird things happen. All sorts of mishaps happen, i also like that raven boy has powers to peek to animals.i think it is a great story for people that like adventure books and mystery. The only thing I did not like is I think the book could be a bit longer because when I got to the end I wanted to read what happened next.

Sarah gave Fright Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Demon's Watch.

This book was great! I loved the part with the witch in. Marcus did a great job writing the book and it was exciting and you wanted to see what will happen to Elf Girl and Raven Boy next. ELLIDH from ST JOSEPH'S WETHERBY

I really enjoyed reading this, because there were parts when I really wondered what would happen next, however when the events happen it always ended happily. This is not something I would usually read but despite that it took me only 2 hours to read!I thought Elf Girl was very interesting because she had a magic arrow shaped birth mark, she was very brave and might have been a bit unpredictable at times but she definitely had courage.I liked Marcus Sedowich's idea of describing the characters as creatures you would find in the forest even though they were actually humans!I found the plot strange but I liked how the ogre was pulling all the trees up!There are lots surprises along the way as they try to find the witch who knows everything...I'm quite disappointed with the ending because it was very plain!!!There was colossal amounts of description and punctuation. You really should read this book!

Rhianna from Beestin Primary

In this book Elf Girl meets Raven Boy and they go an a magical and angerous quest to save the forest.Personally my favourite character was Elf Girl but then again i'm a girl she was my favourite because Raven Boy acted as though he was al tough and strong but actually Elf Girl proved that they are both equal despite there differences. The characters did feel real to me and the way the auther wrote thier feeling but made you dig deeper and the fact that all the characters had to live up to an expectation. The story kind of made you guess what was going to happen next. My favourite part of the book was when Elf Girl and Raven Boy was about to be made into soup because it took a rat to save them. Certain parts of the story was written well as they made me laugh quite a lot. I ended up turning the pages but thats because when i read a book i can not put it down at all. The only part i didnt like was when it went all girly and daffadils. But above all it was quite a good book.

This book is Very Exciting !!!! The main Characters are Raven Boy and Elf Girl , The setting is a dark forest . My fav chararcter is Elf Girl because she loves her family because the text explains that after the dramatic accident she really wanted to find them no matter what it took. Even if 3 very hungry trolls who turned into men by day was hunting them down . Duh! Duh! Duhhhhhh! (Sorry ,just came to my mind)

Ellie from Wigton Moor Primary

It was a good book, but at the beginning it was kind of boring. I liked the way the book was left on a cliffhanger, but still left open for the next book to carry on from. The main reason I only rated three was because of all the pictures; I want to imagine what the character looks like myself, and I get annoyed when my idea of the character is nothing like the author's view.

Ellie gave Fright Forest 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Hitler's Angel.

Elizabeth from St. Benedicts catholic primary

I enjoyed this adventerous book along with it's twists however it could use more interesting vocabulary.I gave it a 3 out of five as it was a interesting book and I enjoyed the chapter openings, it left me with a cliff-hanger about elf girl and raven boys names but if I read the rest of the series i'll find out. Although i wouldn't recomend this book to 9 yr olds probably just 11 yr olds. This book is full of twists and adventure even though it has left me with cliffhangers and forcing me to read the rest of the series.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!! Marcus Sedgwick is a FANTASTIC writer altough he could use some more exiting vocab. This is a book with lots of exiting twists and turns and a great ending. The question i have is WHAT ARE THEIR NAMES?!?! I love Elf girl and Raven boy but I am just dissapointed that there is no revealer of their real names. If i read the rest of the series, I would probably work it out. This is a good book but i wouldn't reccomend this book to anyone under 8 years old. There is a dissapointing cliffhanger at the end, forcing you to read the rest of the series.

Grace from St. Benedict's

Fright Forest is an amazing book and I could read it over and over again. In this book you feel like you are part of story, you can feel what Elf Girl and Raven boy are feeling. My favourite character in this book is Elf girl and how at times she can be the bravest person ever but at other times she can be very anxious like she was when she didn't want to go up and sleep in a tree for the night. I have been very inspired by this book and am going to recommend that it goes in our new library.

Marcus Sedowick's book- Fright Forest- suprised me in many ways as it didn't have the dramatic ending I was hoping for. I gave this book 3 out of 5 because it took ages to get to the scary bits but even then they weren't very enjoyable or frightening.

This book is one of the best books I have ever read. It pulls you in straight away! You feel as though your amongst the trees with Raven Boy and trying to figure out the impossible magic bow with Elf Girl. My favourite character has to be Elf Girl. She is immensley determined to get to the bottom of the mysterious happenings of the forest. She lets nothing get in her way and has a good sense of humor. When you read the book she puts a smile on your face. This book is a terrific read and I could not wait for the time to come for me to pick up the book and be emerged in the dense shrubbery and the eerie canopys of Fright Forest. I definately would reccomend this book to bookworms around the world - even if you don't enjoy reading you will enjoy this book. From the first word it has you gripped. An amazing read for girls and boys alike. Even though it leaves you asking the question ... what is Elf girl and Raven boys real name?

I am really enjoying reading Fright Forest because it is very intresting and adventurous. I think the author created Raven Boy scared of alot of things because he lives in the trees so he doesnt really know what to expect on the ground. I think this book is to entertain because it is a story book. My favourite character in the book is Elf Girl because she can`t find her parents so i feel sorry for her. I am on chapter six waiting to find out what will happen next.

Elf girl and Raven boy become best friends and head off to find their parents, but they need to be careful because the three UGLY ogres are after them and they have had NO dinner. Raven boy is amazing... he can speak to animals and just makes this story as good as it can get! Elf girl is AWESOME too. She is always making things right and always on the positive side of things. She gets everyones hopes up and enjoys being out in the wild life and having fruit and berrys for a snack! i REALLY enjoyed this book.
